Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our tools, privacy, and policies
General
What is Flashman?
Flashman is a free collection of browser-based developer utilities for formatting, encoding, decoding, generating, and debugging. Tools run on your device whenever possible, so sensitive data stays local.
Do I need to create an account?
No. All tools are available without registration or login.
Is it really free?
Yes, forever. Hosting costs are covered in part by advertising through Google AdSense. Ads load only after you choose Accept on the cookie banner.
What browsers are supported?
Modern versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Some tools use Web Crypto APIs or other browser features that may not work in older browsers.
Privacy & Security
What happens to my data?
Most tools process data entirely in your browser. We do not intentionally collect, store, or transmit the content you paste into formatters, decoders, or generators. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
Can I use this with production secrets?
Tools that run client-side do not upload your input. However, we still recommend against pasting production passwords, API keys, or customer data into any web tool. Use local CLI utilities for the most sensitive workflows.
What cookies do you use?
We use local storage to remember your cookie consent choice and theme preference. If you choose Accept, Google Analytics and Google AdSense may set cookies. See our Privacy Policy for opt-out instructions.
Tool Usage
Are tool results always accurate?
We test algorithms and keep documentation current, but software bugs and edge cases exist. Always verify critical output independently before production use. Read our Disclaimer for liability limits.
Can I use these tools in my commercial project?
Yes. The tools are free to use for any purpose. Tool output is yours. See our Terms of Service for acceptable use guidelines.
What if a tool gives an error?
Check the input format matches what the tool expects. If the error persists, contact us with your browser, the tool name, and steps to reproduce.
Can I suggest a new tool or feature?
Yes! Email rahulchitturi888@gmail.com with your idea. We prioritize tools that fill common developer needs and work client-side.
Content & Guides
Who writes the guides and blog posts?
Rahul Chitturi writes original content for Flashman. Articles focus on practical debugging workflows, tool usage, and developer productivity. See the About page for more.
How often is content updated?
Guides are updated when behavior changes or readers report corrections. New blog posts are published regularly. You can follow updates via our RSS feed.
Can I share or link to guides?
Yes. All guides and blog posts have permanent URLs you can share. Attribute Flashman when quoting substantial portions.
Technical
What technologies power Flashman?
The site is built with Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. Tools use standard Web APIs when possible. The site is hosted on Vercel.
Is the source code available?
The site itself is not open source, but tool algorithms follow public standards (RFC 4648 for Base64, RFC 7519 for JWT, etc.). You can inspect tool logic in browser DevTools.
Does Flashman work offline?
Tools require an initial page load. Once loaded, client-side tools work without network access. The site is not a Progressive Web App with full offline caching.
Support & Contact
How do I report a bug or issue?
Email rahulchitturi888@gmail.com with the tool name, your browser version, and steps to reproduce. Do not send passwords or production tokens.
Do you offer API access or bulk processing?
Not currently. Tools are designed for interactive browser use. For batch processing, consider local CLI utilities or libraries in your preferred language.
Can I advertise or partner with Flashman?
For partnership inquiries, email rahulchitturi888@gmail.com with your proposal. We do not accept guest posts or paid link placements.
